Preschool Director Presents at Conference

Posted on Tuesday, October 28, 2008

Dr. Mandy Medvin, Westminster College professor of psychology and director of Westminster's preschool lab, was part of a panel discussion at the 43rd Pittsburgh Association for the Education of Young Children conference Oct. 25.

"The panel focused on practical suggestions for early childhood programs who are seeking accreditation by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC)," Medvin said. "Presenters were from programs who had received accreditation the previous year. Each school brought program and curriculum portfolios and were available to answer questions from individual programs."

Westminster's preschool program was reaccredited by NAEYC in July 2007.

Also attending the conference was Deborah Roud, Westminster preschool teacher.

Medvin, who has been with Westminster since 1992, holds the Gibson-Drinko Distinguished Chair of Psychology. She earned an undergraduate degree from Rutgers University and Ph.D. from the University of Washington.
