Westminster College's Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning is hosting the Annual Student Forum Friday, March 30, at 8:30 a.m. at the McKelvey Campus Center.

The Annual Student Forum is sponsored by the Tri-State Area Study Council of the Department of Administrative and Policy Studies at the University of Pittsburgh School of Education. Each high school or vocational school is eligible to send two girls, two boys, a counselor, and an assistant principal to the event.

The purpose of the forum is to gain an understanding of collective student perceptions about their schooling under Pennsylvania standards and No Child Left Behind. The forum attempts to answer: What is quality instruction? What are the characteristics of a high quality teacher who gets all the students to learn the content? How do students define a hard teacher? Do students take the state tests seriously? What about a special education sub-group? Does remediation work?

The Drinko Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning was developed to advance world-class teaching at Westminster and enrich K-12 education through outreach programs for area educators.

Registration is at 8:30 a.m. The program starts at 9 a.m., followed by lunch. Contact Amelia Loman at (412) 648-7185 or e-mail aloman@pitt.edu for more information.
