Former Westminster College President Honored Posthumously

Westminster College President Emeritus Dr. Oscar E. Remick, will be honored posthumously with the Distinguished Public Service Award by the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies (NASAA) in October.

Emma Remick, his wife, will be accepting the award at the NASAA annual conference in Detroit Oct. 17-20. This award, established by NASAA in 2000, honors individuals whose outstanding service, creative thinking and leadership have had a significant impact on the field of public support for the arts in his/her state or region.

Dr. Remick, who was an ordained minister, served as Westminster's 12th president and then chancellor from 1987-97, and was honored as President Emeritus upon his retirement. He helped shape Westminster into one of the best liberal arts, church-related colleges in America.

Dr. Remick was the former chair of the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, of the Pennsylvania Association of Colleges and Universities, the Commission for Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania, and the Association of Presbyterian Colleges and Universities, and served as a member of then Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge's Keystone Committee.
