Men's and Women's Choirs to Perform at Westminster College

The Westminster College Men's and Women's Choirs will perform Sunday, Nov. 3, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

The men will sing two barbershop numbers, "The Chordbuster March" and "Coney Island Baby," and two Civil War selections, "Waitin' for the Dawn of Peace" and "Goin' Up to Glory." Other numbers include Hal Hopson's "The Gift of Love" and Kirke Mechem's "Blow Ye the Trumpet" from the opera John Brown. Dr. Robin Lind, assistant professor of music and director of choral activities at Westminster College, directs the men's choir.

The Women will perform early music numbers "Cantate Domino" and "Christo Resurgenti," as well as American folk songs," "The Gift to Be Simple" and "Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child," which will be conducted by Jeanetta Antus, a senior music education major from Hermitage. The audience will also be treated to music of Latin America in "La Flor De La Miel" and "Yo Le Canto Todo El Dia." Sharon Rotuna, voice instructor at Westminster College, directs the women's choir.

The combined choirs will sing "The Star-Spangled Banner," "The Battle of Jericho," and "A Jubilant Song."
