Westminster Religion Professor Studies and Lectures in Northern Ireland

Posted on Monday, November 4, 2002

Dr. Ann Coble, assistant professor of Christian education and religion, recently studied and lectured in Northern Ireland.

"I gave a lecture at The Last Supper, a Christian study group in Belfast," said Coble. "My lecture, Clarence Jordan and the Cotton Patch Gospels,' included information from my book, Cotton Patch for the Kingdom."

While in Northern Ireland, Coble and 20 other faculty from around the United States took part in a one-week class at the University of Ulster at Coleraine, which explored the religious and social roots of the conflict in Northern Ireland.

Coble also attended "Oxbridge 2002," a two-week conference sponsored by the C.S. Lewis Foundation. About 20 speakers and 300 participants spent one week in Oxford and one week in Cambridge to discuss the Christian perspective on "Time and Eternity."

Coble, who has been with Westminster since 1999, earned her undergraduate degree from Washington University, her master's in divinity from Covenant Theological Seminary, her master's in theology from Covenant Theological Seminary, and her Ph.D. from Saint Louis University.
