The Westminster College Celebrity Series recently announced its star-studded schedule for the 2004-2005 season, which will be held in the newly-renovated Orr Auditorium.

The season debuts Oct. 1 with "The Ten Tenors," an entertaining vocal group from Australia.  They perform all genres of music, jumping from opera to Broadway, from the Bee Gees to rock.

"Crazy for You" comes to Westminster Oct. 20.  This large-scale Broadway touring production by George and Ira Gershwin, will thrill the audience with its Tony Award winning combination of classic Gershwin songs, exciting dance numbers, and great sets and costumes.

The 100 voice Mendelssohn Choir, under the Grammy Award winning music director Robert Page, appears Nov. 20.  This choir has traveled with the Pittsburgh Symphony to Carnegie Hall, the Lincoln Center, and has toured internationally. The program features familiar and popular music.

The John Pizzarelli Trio and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra will present a holiday concert Dec. 3.  Pizzarelli is hailed by critics for his brilliant guitar work and smooth vocals, in the Sinatra tradition.  Performing under the direction of Isaiah Jackson, the Symphony will provide a wonderful way to start the holiday season.

Cabaret performers and recording artists Faith Prince and Tom Wopat will perform Feb. 2.  This multimedia program includes songs by Harold Arlen, including "Over the Rainbow" and behind the scene clips from the making of the "Wizard of Oz."

The multi-talented Louise Mandrell will perform March 19.  Mandrell combines bluegrass traditions with pure country harmonies, while she incorporates Broadway perfect dance steps and an unsurpassed fluency on several musical instruments.  She will be accompanied by a dozen of the most talented singers and dancers in the business.

The season concludes April 9 with Ben Vereen singing songs of Sammy Davis, Jr., and hit songs from his own Broadway shows.  Vereen's marvelous dancing will also be featured in this show, as well as his 18 piece orchestra.

Season passes and individual tickets are available.  All shows begin at 8 p.m.  For more information, contact Judy Behm, acting box office assistant of the Westminster College Celebrity Series at (724) 946-7354 or e-mail behmj@westminster.edu.
