Westminster College Student Takes First Place in Poetry Competition

Jennifer Ombres, a senior English major at Westminster College, took first place East Central College's (ECC) Tenth Annual Student Literary Competition in the poetry division for her poem, "What I Know About Jeff."

Ombres is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mario Ombres, 3080 Ridge Road Ext., Freedom, and a graduate of Quigley High School

The ECC is made up of nine campuses: Bethany College, Heidelberg College, Hiram College, Marietta College, Mount Union College, Muskingum College, Otterbein College, West Virginia Wesleyan College, and Westminster College.

This year's competition received a total of 174 entries from all nine ECC campuses. An ECC faculty team judged entries anonymously.

Winners will be submitted for consideration in Confluence, the literary journal published by the Ohio Valley Literary Group and Marietta College, as well as inclusion in the 2001 ECC Literary Anthology.
