Westminster College Celebrity Series Announces New Season

Tony Danza debuts the Westminster Celebrity season Sept. 27 with his song and dance show straight from Las Vegas and New York clubs. One of America's most popular performers, Danza has starred in long-running televisions series "Who's the Boss" and "Taxi," and most recently on the dramatic series "Family Law."

Leahy, a group of nine brothers and sisters, star in the second show of the season Oct. 13. All nine members of this family play instruments, sing, and step dance. They feature Celtic music with a touch of folk, rock, pop, country, and classical. The group gained attention while accompanying Shania Twain on a 180-show tour, impressing audiences around the world.

Bob Newhart will perform Oct. 21. He performs in soldout comedy concerts audiences all over the country, and has performed in various television sitcoms, recordings and films.

Linda Eder, comes to Westminster Nov. 6, after starring in the Broadway smash Jekyll and Hyde. Eder, who has a magnificent three-octave voice and dynamic delivery, has six solo records, and is sometimes compared to Barbara Streisand.

"In the Mood," the first of the season's special shows not included in season passes is scheduled Nov. 12. This show presents a 1940s musical revue featuring the In the Mood singers and dancers with the String of Pearls big band orchestra.

Don McLean stars in the Christmas show Dec. 13. In his 30th year of his recording career, McLean remains among the most popular singer-songwriters in pop music history. In addition to his classic "American Pie," "And I Love You So," and "Starry Night," he will feature holiday music in this concert.

Caillou, a special children's show not included in the season passes, will perform Feb. 8. Calillou is throwing a big party and all his friends are invited to join in the fun in this all-new, full-length, delightful musical production. Calillou ranks among the top five preschool shows in the United States, and was named "one of the best new preschool series to come along in years" by Child Magazine.

Hal Holbrook in Mark Twain Tonight arrives at Westminster Feb. 11. The humor and sardonic wit of Mark Twain remains relevant and funny today through the magnificent portrayal of Twain by super-star Holbrook. He won a Tony Award for his Broadway run of this show, and attracted millions of viewers in the 1997 CBS television version.

The Sound of Music comes to Westminster College April 13. Set against the backdrop of the Austrian Alps, Rodgers and Hammerstein's beloved family classic has won the hearts of audiences for years. The delightful story of the von Trapp Family singers features an unforgettable score including "My Favorite Things," "Do, Re, Mi," "Climb Every Mountain," and many more.

Tom Chapin, a special family show not included with season tickets, returns to Westminster April 25. America's favorite family entertainer, Chapin is a gifted singer who charms audiences of all ages. His remarkable musicianship, great songwriting, and personal warmth shine through in his many award winning recordings and videos, but particularly in his concerts.

Cats, a special production not included with season tickets, comes to Westminster April 28. This Andrew Lloyd Webber show revolutionized the musical theater. It became the longest running musical on Broadway, as well as on the British stage. This full-scale Broadway production about the once a year gathering of the Jellicle cats includes stunning costumes, a company of outstanding singers and dancers, and lush orchestrations.
