SUMMER RESEARCH FELLOW: Lyddia Rougeux ’25

Meet Lyddia Rougeux ’25, one of 10 students selected for a 2023 Summer Research Fellowship. Lyddia, a junior molecular biology major and music minor, is from Pittsfield, Pa. She and her faculty mentor, Dr. Joshua Corrette-Bennett, associate professor of biology, spent their summer months working on the project “Effects of siHybrids on Quorum-sensing Involved in Biofilm Production.”  Outside of the classroom, Lyddia is an accomplished saxophonist and performs with the Westminster College Marching Band, Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band. She is a member of the music honors fraternity Mu Phi Epsilon and the Alpha Gamma Delta sorority.

Woodwind Day at Westminster College open to high school, adult musicians

The Westminster College School of Music will host Woodwind Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 30, in Orr Auditorium. The day-long event is open to woodwind musicians of all ages and skill levels.

SUMMER RESEARCH FELLOW: Reid Sanderson ’25

Meet Reid Sanderson ’25, one of 10 students selected for a 2023 Summer Research Fellowship. Reid is a junior broadcasting and sports communication major from Meadville, Pa. Working with his faculty mentor and School of Communication faculty member Bradley Weaver, Reid spent his summer months working as creator, producer and showrunner of the television program, “The Green Team.”
 
Outside of the classroom, Reid is active with the Agape Bible Study group.

 
Why did you apply for the Summer Research Fellowship?  
I applied for the Summer Research Fellowship because I saw it was a great way to make some money over the summer and I was going to be doing something that involved my major. When I knew I was going to take on the role of producer, it was a dream. I wanted to become more familiar with working with editing software, cameras and videography equipment.
