Westminster College to host gallery reception for Petruzzi, Stewart exhibition

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – The Foster Art Gallery and Department of Art and Theatre at Westminster College will host a gallery reception to celebrate the current exhibition—works from John Petruzzi and Paige Stewart—from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 5.

The gallery reception will include talks by both artists—both Westminster Fine Art adjunct faculty members—about their work in the show. Light refreshments will be provided.

Petruzzi, a visual artist, works with watercolor on synthetic paper to examine climate change, habitat loss, extinction and ecological imbalance. As an adjunct instructor at Westminster, he teaches 2D design, painting and drawing. He earned a bachelor in fine arts degree from Youngstown State University and his M.F.A. from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston in partnership with Tufts University.

Stewart, who teaches drawing at Westminster, specializes in portrait, animal portrait and landscape painting. She uses her paintings, animation and installation to explore tribalism, human absurdity and the architecture of ideologies. Stewart holds an M.F.A. from American University.

Petruzzi’s and Stewart’s exhibitions will run until Oct. 13.

The Foster Art Gallery, located in Patterson Hall on Westminster’s campus, is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
