Dr. Kenneth H. Phillips, a 1967 graduate of Westminster College, recently had his text book, "Directing the Choral Music Program," published by the Oxford University Press.

According to the preface, this text "is a choral methods text intended primarily for undergraduate students preparing to become choral music teachers. It also will be of value to persons wanting to become church choir directors, children's choir directors, and directors of numerous other choral organizations."

This book was dedicated to "those people, mostly choir directors, who have made a significant impact on my life, both musically and personally." Two Westminster professors: Clarence Martin, professor of music emeritus, "whose choice of inspiring choral literature instilled in me a love for quality choral music;" and Ada Peabody, former professor of music education, "who instilled in me an admiration for Lowell Mason and his pioneering work in music education" were included in the dedication.

Phillips, who graduated from Westminster College with a degree in music education, is currently a professor of music education at Gordon College, and resides in New Castle. Through his generous donation, his current book is available in the Westminster College library.
