The Westminster College department of music will host area high school students for the inaugural Brothers, Sing On! men’s chorus festival, Thursday, March 19. The event will culminate with a short concert at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The performance is free and open to the public.

“The event is bringing young male singers together and fostering a love for the choral art,” shares Dr. Samuel Barbara, assistant professor and director of choral activities. “Through this concert, we hope to raise awareness about male choral singing and encourage increased participation in this form of art, and generate excitement - not only on campus, but throughout the region.”

Under the direction of Barbara, the festival chorus will include 100 singers made up of Westminster College Men’s Choir, high school men from around the region and a special performance by the newly formed barbershop quartet.

Among the compositions are Zion's Walls arranged by Aaron Copland; Nine Hundred Miles arranged by Philip Silvey; Widerspruch by Franz Schubert; and Ride On, King Jesus by Moses Hogan.
