Katherine Menhorn, a junior music education major at Westminster College, recently received the $500 Phillip H. Inman Excellence in Choral Conducting Art Scholarship from the Beaver Valley Choral Society.

"This is a major honor for our music students," said Dr. Robin Lind, director of choral activities at Westminster College.  "I'm very proud of Kathy."

The Beaver Valley Choral Society established this scholarship to celebrate Inman's life-long dedication to excellence in the choral arts of the Beaver County region in Pennsylvania.  His inspiration at the conductor's stand continues to play an important role in bringing musical joy, education, and spiritual comfort to all those fortunate enough to know and work with him.

Menhorn is a daughter of Norman and Joan Menhorn, Berlin, and a graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School.  She is a mezzo-soprano member of the Westminster College Concert Choir, where she is treasurer, and Chamber Singers.  Menhorn accompanies the Westminster College Men's Chorus and is the Field Commander for the Titan Marching Band.  She is president of the Westminster chapter of the American Choral Director Association.
