Education Professor Presents Papers at Conference

Posted on Wednesday, December 7, 2005

Dr. William Evans, associate professor of education at Westminster College, recently presented two papers at the Pennsylvania School Counselor Association Western Regional Conference.

"'Creating Shades of Gray with Black and White Thinkers' was a skill development workshop aimed at developing specific counseling skills that can be used with problematic black and white or dichotomous thinking with students," Evans said.  "'Don't They Get It? Understanding the Dynamics of Children and Families from Poverty' explores the behaviors, values and attitudes that families and children bring to the school environment that may be at odds with the middle class values upon which most schools operate."

Evans, who has been with Westminster College since 2001, earned his undergraduate degree from The Pennsylvania State University, his master's from Youngstown State University, and his Ph.D. from Kent State University.
