NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Three Westminster College media art + design students and one fine art student showcased work from various media art + design courses during the Spring Semester at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust.

Matthew Baurle, a junior media art major, is a son of John and Renee Baurle of Jeannette and a graduate of Penn-Trafford High School.

Katie Pallone, a senior fine art major, is a daughter of Frank and MaryBeth Pallone of New Kensington and a graduate of Valley High School.

Rebecca Treimer, a senior media art major, is a daughter of Tammy Treimer of Pulaski and a graduate of Kennedy Catholic High School.

Deanna Moose, who recently earned a degree in media art, is a daughter of Sandra Moose of New Wilmington and a graduate of Mercer Area High School.

Moose's "Typism" poster was featured on the Selected Student Works wall. This special area of the juried exhibition featured approximately 50 student and professional selected works. This achievement separated Moose's work from the nearly 350 overall submitted pieces to show.

The media art + design and fine arts majors fall under the Department of Communication Studies, Theatre, and Art, which also includes majors in broadcast and digital communications, communication studies, and theatre.

The fine art major is designed to meet the needs of students who are interested in pursuing study in a variety of artistic areas. Students are introduced to diverse art forms through foundation studies. Electives may be used to focus on a particular field of concentration.

The media art + design curriculum includes studies in graphic design, advertising, digital photography, digital video and digital filmmaking. Courses in the program include: design principles and practices, digital photography and imaging, history of design and advertising, corporate design and branding, digital video and cinema: pre-production, production (directing/cinematography), post-production (editing), 2D: motion graphics and visual effects, 3D modeling and animation, web design, and more.
