Three New Members Elected to Westminster College's Board of Trustees

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Board of Trustees added nine members to the class 2016, including three first-time trustees.

Robert Buehner '75, Robert Jackson '91, Barbara Braden Guffey '70 and Thomas Mansell '61 were elected to their second consecutive four-year terms. Stephen Hartle rejoined the Board. Thomas Tupitza '79 will serve as chairman of the board.

New to the 40-member Board in 2012 are David Farner ‘85, Linda Jenkins ‘80, and the Rev. Dr. Stephen McConnell ‘80.

Farner is the senior vice president and chief of staff for the office of the president at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and is the board chair for UPMC Ireland. He has served in numerous positions during his 26 years with the medical center. He earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster College. Farner and his wife, Laura, have two children, Max and Samuel, and reside in Somerset.

Jenkins serves as an independent representative and business and financial consultant for Trades of Hope, a company that helps women living in poverty by selling their hand-made products. For nine years Jenkins also held several different positions at Primedia, Inc., including her last position as senior vice president and chief financial officer of the Consumer Media and Magazine Group. She earned her undergraduate degree at Westminster College and master's in business administration from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business. Jenkins and her husband, Jay, split their time between Irvington, N.Y, and Palm Coast, Fla.

McConnell has served as the senior pastor at the Church of the Palms in Sarasota, Fla., since 2008. Previously he served as senior pastor at Liberty Corner Presbyterian Church in New Jersey and Melrose Carmel Presbyterian Church in Elkins Park. McConnell earned his undergraduate degree at Westminster College, masters in divinity from Princeton Theological Seminary and doctoral degree from Drew University. McConnell and his wife, Amanda, have a daughter, Brittany, and reside in Sarasota, Fla.

Two new faculty associate trustees were elected for 2012: Dr. Bethany Hicok, associate professor of English, and Dr. Peter Smith, associate professor of chemistry. They joined Dr. Terri Lenox, professor and chair of the mathematics and computer science department, who is serving her second term on the board.

Three new student associate trustees were elected for 2012: Nicholas Dalessio, Tawni Darby, and Jeffrey Finafrock.

Dalessio, a senior political science major, is a son of David and Tammy Dalessio of Smicksburg and a graduate of Marion Center Area High School.

Darby, a senior public relations major, is a daughter of Walter and Lori Darby of Hermitage and a graduate of Lincoln Park Performing Arts Charter School.

Finafrock, a senior biology major, is a son of Terry and Michelle Finafrock of Waynesboro and a graduate of Waynesboro Area High School.
