Westminster College hosted over 900 students from 50 area schools at the Northeast Regional Science Olympiad competition March 11.
Eleven teams advanced to the state competition Friday, April 29, at Juniata College.
The top six teams in the junior high category were:
1) Shady Side Academy
2) Clarion Area Junior High School
3) Indiana Area Junior High School
4) North East Middle School
5) DuBois Area Middle School.
The top five in the high school category were:
1) Shady Side Academy
2) Clarion Area High School
3) Montour Area High School
4) Kane Area High School
5) Warren Area High School
6) DuBois Area High School
The Science Olympiad is an international non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of science education, increasing student interest in science, and providing recognition for outstanding achievement in science education by both teachers and students. The Science Olympiad tournaments are rigorous academic interscholastic competitions that consist of a series of individual and team events, which students prepare during the year.
