Chamber Singers and Concert Choir to Present Spring Concert April 17

The Westminster College Chamber Singers and Concert Choir will present "Scotland, Here We Come" Sunday, April 17, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.  The concert is free and open to the public.

The Concert Choir's selections include: Richard Proulx's "Ubi Caritas," featuring William Armentrout, Amanda Gentzel, and Hannah Timm on handbells; Virgil Thomson's arrangement of "My Shepherd will Supply My Need;" "How Lovely is Thy Dwelling Place" by Leo Nestor; Randall Thompson's "Say Ye to the Righteous" from The Peaceable Kingdom; Dominck Argento's "There's Singing up in Heaven;" Rory Boyle's arrangement of "Ae Fond Kiss" and "Comin' thro' the Rye" with text by Robert Burns; and James Erb's arrangement of "Shenandoah."

The Chamber Singers' portion of the program includes: "Come Away, Sweet Love" by Thomas Greaves; Paul Christiansen's arrangement of "My Song in the Night;" "When Mary through the Garden Went" by Charles Villiers Stanford; "Non Nobis, Domine" by Rosephanye Powell; and Bruce Sled's "Sparrow's Jig."

The Concert Choir will conclude the program with Percy Grainger's arrangement of "I'm Seventeen Come Sunday," featuring Robert Marra, Douglas Swanson, and Matthew Wilson on trumpet; Katie DiCola, Sarah Haylett, Monica Ruhlman, and Victoria Walker on horn; Natalie Bok, Stephen Keefer, and Kevin Schneider on trombone; Brendan Keiper on tuba; and Stephen Flory and Timothy Matyas on percussion. 

The choirs are under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster associate professor of music and director of choral activities.  Gentzel accompanies the Concert Choir and the Chamber Singers are accompanied by Sarah D'Angelo.

The choir and Westminster's Wind Ensemble will tour Scotland May 23-June 2.  The group will present concerts throughout the country as part of the American Celebration of Music in Scotland.
