Westminster College's Celebrity Series will close its season with "1964…The Tribute" Friday, April 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.
The show, sponsored by Jameson Health System, recreates an early 1960s live Beatles concert with period instruments, clothing, hairstyles, on-stage banter, and an accuracy that is unmatched.
"1964" concentrates on the Beatles' touring years, a period that is one of the most documented in pictures, films, and eye-witness accounts. The group is hailed by critics and fans as the most authentic and endearing Beatles tribute show in the world.
The show marks not only the end of the season, but also the final official appearance of longtime Celebrity Series Director Gene DeCaprio, who has announced plans to retire. DeCaprio, a 1949 Westminster graduate, joined the staff in 1989. His tenure encompasses 153 Celebrity Series shows, 35 special shows, and 22 years of presenting the River City Brass Band Independence Day Celebration at Brittain Lake.
Good seats are still available from $25 to $43 per person. Tickets may be purchased through the Celebrity Series office (724-946-7354) or online through the link at www.westminster.edu/celebrity.
