Theatre Westminster will present Beth Henley's Crimes of the Heart April 14-17 in Beeghly Theater.
The final production of the season is the 1981 Pulitzer Prize and New York Drama Critics Circle Award winner. Described as "warm-hearted, irreverent, zany and brilliantly imaginative," the play examines the plight of three young Mississippi sisters betrayed by their passions.
Curtain time Thursday-Saturday is 7:30 p.m.; Sunday's matinee is at 2:30 p.m. Reservations can be made online by following the "ticket reserve" link at www.westminster.edu/drama or by calling the Box Office at (724) 946-7241. Prices for general admission adults are $10, and senior citizens and non-Westminster students are $7.
The student production is under the direction of Dr. Scott Mackenzie, Westminster associate professor of theatre. He is a certified associate teacher of Fitzmaurice Voicework who has acting experience in film, television, and theatre and has directed over 30 productions. Mackenzie co-wrote, produced, and directed Out of the Fire: Voices of the Holocaust for the Hoyt Institute of Fine Arts. While on active duty with the United States Army Reserve, he directed Bigfoot Stole My Wife, the first show produced entirely by military and civilian personnel stationed in Baghdad's International Zone.
