Sociology Professor Featured in Documentary

Posted on Monday, March 28, 2011

Dr. Kristin Park, Westminster College associate professor of sociology, has a role in the documentary film The Childless by Choice Project.

"I was interviewed by filmmaker Laura Scott in 2005 about the findings of my published research on voluntary childlessness," Park said.  "I served as an academic consultant throughout the project by reviewing survey and interview questions and making recommendations for marketing the project to educators."

Park's research is cited many times in the companion book Two is Enough: A Couple's Guide to Living Childless by Choice

The film will be available on home video, in a limited number of art house and home screenings, and in collections of educational institutions.

Park, who has been with Westminster since 1993, earned an undergraduate degree from Colgate University and master's certificate in Latin American Studies, master's, and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Contact Park at (724) 946-7251 or email kpark@westminster.edu for additional information.  Visit www.childlessbychoiceproject.com for more information about the project.
