The Children's Hour, Theatre Westminster's final spring semester production, earned a school-record three certificates of merit in technical theatre.
The production was entered in the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival (KCACTF).
"A respondent from another KCACTF-participating school sees the play and provides feedback to the students and faculty," explained Dr. Scott Mackenzie, Westminster associate professor of theatre. "One of the things a respondent might-but is not required to-do is award a specific aspect of the production a certificate of merit when he or she feels the work is worth special notice."
Zach O'Connor, a sophomore theatre and communication studies major from Kent, Ohio, earned a certificate for Excellence in Stage Management.
Danielle Newport, a sophomore communication studies and theatre major from Lodi, Ohio, earned a certificate for Excellence in Lighting Design.
The design and production team for the play earned a certificate for Excellence in Production.
All of the student designers and the stage manager were mentored by Gianni Downs, Westminster assistant professor of theatre, who designed the set for The Children's Hour.
