Dr. Jesse Mann, Westminster College vice president for academic affairs and Dean of the College, presented at the Council of Independent Colleges' (CIC) ninth annual Workshop for Department and Division Chairs, "Managing Multiple Roles and Responsibilities," June 2-4 in St. Paul, Minn.

Mann was invited to lead a 90-minute session on "Effective Academic Program Review." Participants examined the criteria and requirements of the review process, including: statement of learning outcomes; qualitative and quantitative assessment data to measure those outcomes; inventory of current resources (personnel, facilities, and technology); statement of potential for generating additional revenue; analysis of potential impact on other institutional programs; and projection of future opportunities.

About 100 department chairs from small liberal arts colleges across the country attended.

Mann, who has been with Westminster since 1984, is also a professor of French and former chair of Westminster's Department of Modern Languages. He earned an undergraduate degree from Washington and Lee University and master's and Ph.D. from the University of Virginia.
