Symphony Orchestra to Present Concert

The Westminster College Symphony Orchestra will present its Classical Series Concert III Sunday, May 4, at 3 p.m. in Orr Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

The orchestra is under the direction of Jonathan Moser, Westminster College instructor and director of orchestras.

Westminster faculty in the orchestra are Dr. R. Tad Greig, assistant professor and director of bands, on trombone; Dr. Nancy DeSalvo, associate professor and chair of the Department of Music, on keyboard; and Mary Moser, adjunct music faculty, on violin.

The program includes Mozart's "Overture to The Marriage of Figaro;" "Handel's "Piangerò, la sorte mia" from Giulio Cesare, featuring senior soprano Melissa Barnes as Cleopatra; Horn Concerto No. 1 in E Flat by Strauss, with Sarah Ortz on horn; and Holst's The Planets, featuring the Westminster College Women's Chorus, directed by Mr. Kris Harper, Westminster adjunct music faculty.

Moser, who has been with Westminster since 2005, earned an undergraduate degree from Shenandoah University and master's from Arizona State University.
