Theatre Westminster will present Arthur Miller's All My Sons Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 22-24 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 25, at 2:30 p.m. in Beeghly Theatre.

"Set in post-World War II middle America, All My Sons examines the disastrous consequences of placing profit and blind pursuit of the American dream ahead of social responsibility and the lives of American soldiers. First produced in 1947, the play once again resonates with power and emotion when viewed in light of the corporate greed and corruption that have plagued our rebuilding efforts in Iraq," said Dr. Scott Mackenzie, Westminster assistant professor of theatre who recently returned from a year of duty as an Army Reserve officer in Baghdad.

"I decided to present this play while I was serving in Iraq," Mackenzie said. "While there, I witnessed two ends of the spectrum as our military men and women continually put themselves in danger because they believe in their mission and at the same time, I saw evidence of the vast sums of money the U.S. government is spending. Just the sight of the hundreds of tanks, helicopters, armored vehicles, and trucks is mind-boggling and doesn't take into account the cost of maintaining entire bases that have been built around the Middle East. When I came home, I kept reading about fraud, waste, and abuse that have plagued the rebuilding effort and I knew this was an important show for us to produce."

The public is also invited to attend "Lame Horses, Cracked Engine Blocks, and $600 Toilet Seats: Two Hundred Years of Supplying the U.S. Military" Sunday, Feb. 25, at 1:30 p.m. at the Mueller Theater located in the McKelvey Campus Center. The event features Dr. Timothy Cuff, Westminster assistant professor of history, and Dr. Angela Lahr, visiting assistant professor of history, who will discuss the history of U.S. military procurement and provision, which will set a context for the problems noted in "All My Sons."
