Eight Students Attend Choral Festival

Posted on Monday, February 12, 2007

Eight Westminster College students recently attended the Intercollegiate Choral Festival in York where they performed under guest conductor Vijay Singh.

"Vijay Singh is a highly acclaimed composer and conductor, and it was an exciting opportunity for our students to get to work with someone of his stature," said Dr. Robin Lind, Westminster College director of choral activities and associate professor of music. "Three of the selections that the choir sang were written or arranged by him."

"Three of our students, soprano Sarah Timm, alto Stephanie Hills, and tenor Bill McCullough, were chosen to sing in a solo quartet in a piece written by Mozart, "Dixit Dominus,'" Lind said.

Students from 10 Pennsylvania colleges participated in the festival of about 75 singers. "It was an excellent opportunity to get to know students from other universities and colleges," Lind added.
