Christina Contes, a senior elementary education and Spanish major at Westminster College, was recently awarded the Academic Year Ambassadorial Scholarship by the Pittsburgh Rotary.

"I will be studying Spanish at la Universidad de Sevilla," said Contes.  "This scholarship provides an equivalent of $25,000 for round-trip transportation, tuition, fees, room and board, and some educational supplies.  I was nominated by my sponsor, William Hall of Lower Burrell, and was one of only eight winners."

Christina Contes is a daughter of Michael and Judi Contes, 1100 Woodmont Ave., New Kensington, and a graduate of Valley High School.  While at Westminster, Contes served as academics chair for the Student Government Association, a member of the Student Alumni Association, a member of a national sorority, a member of Habitat for Humanity, a member of the international education society of Kappa Delta Pi, and the honor society of Omicron Delta Kappa.
