Westminster Professor Collaborates on Book

Dr. James A. Perkins, professor of English at Westminster College, has collaborated with Suh Ji-moon on Brother Enemy: Poems of the Korean War.

The 176-page book landmark anthology, published by White Pine Press in Buffalo, N.Y., features the work of 21 North and South Korean poets.

"The poems in this collection reflect the reality of a country torn apart by war and political ideologies," said Perkins. "The critical introduction by Suh Ji-moon places the poems and the poets within a historical context that describes the suffering and despair of pitting brother against brother."

Perkins, who has taught at Westminster since 1973, earned his undergraduate degree from Centre College, a master's from Miami University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.

He was a Fulbright Visiting Professor at Seoul National University in Korea. His publications include: three chapbooks of poetry; two collections of short stories; Southern Writers at Century's End, and All the King's Men: Three Stage Version.
