Westminster College Opera Class to Perform

The Westminster College Opera Scenes Class will present "Westminster Vice" Friday, Nov. 22, at 7:30 p.m. in Orr Auditorium.

The evening features scenes from Bach's Coffee Cantata and Wolf-Ferrari's Suzanne's Secret.

"As we all know, opera is full of tales of the vices that plague mankind," said Dr. Anne Bentz, assistant professor of music. "We have chosen to focus our attentions on two of these: the vice of drinking coffee, and the vice of smoking."

The cast features the following members of the class:

Turtle Creek, PA
Katherine Miller
is a daughter of Richard and Mariann Miller, 608 Boden Street. Miller, a junior music education major, is a graduate of Woodland Hills High School. She accompanies with the flute.

Vandergrift, PA
Rachel Varine
is a daughter of John and Gail Varine, R.D. 2. Varine, a sophomore music performance major, is a graduate of Leechburg Area High School. She plays the part of Countess Suzanne.

Brookville, PA
Sean Taylor
is a son of Linda Taylor, 38 Pennsylvania Avenue and David Taylor, Brookville. Taylor, a junior music education major, is a graduate of Brookville Area High School. He plays the part of Count Gil.

Summerhill, PA
Richard Leigh
is a son of Richard and Denise Leigh, 301 Main Street. Leigh, a senior music education major, is a graduate of Forest Hills High School. He is the narrator and boyfriend.

Meadville, PA
Brian Barrett 
is a son of Bruce and Gayle Barrett, 601 Chestnut Street. Barrett, a senior music performance major, is a graduate of Meadville Area High School. He plays the part of Mr. Schlendrian.

Medina, OH
Stephanie Nicholson
is a daughter of Marvin and Sharon Nicholson, 7574 Hidden Acres Drive. Nicholson, a freshman music performance and music education major, is a graduate of Medina High School. She plays the part of Lieschen.
