CEO of the Population Institute Werner Fornos, an internationally-recognized authority on issues of world population growth, will speak at Westminster College Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in Hoyt Science Resources Center Phillips Lecture Hall.

His speech "Population and the Next Generation: Youth and Adolescence," will cover a range of relevant issues, including: environmental degradation and global climate change; maternal and child health care; socio-economic underdevelopment; global security and terrorism; hunger, poverty, and literacy; and women's empowerment.

"The Education America Program, which attempts to raise awareness of populations issues, relates directly to one of the principle themes of the second half of Westminster's Inquiry Program," said Dr. Jesse Mann, interim vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college. "Now in its 19th year, the Population Institutes highly successful and unduplicated program raises public awareness of world population issues, especially the impact of rapid population growth on the global environment, health, and social well being."

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Mann at (724) 946-7123 or e-mail mannjt@westminster.edu.
