The Westminster Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will give a concert Sunday, Nov. 24, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.
"The Chamber Singers will be performing three songs written especially for them by Lois Hopkins (music instructor at Westminster), and the lyrics are the poems of Jon Stallworthy," said Dr. Robin Lind, director of choral activities at Westminster College." "They are also singing Three Shakespeare Songs by Matthew Harris.
"The concert choir is performing a major work by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger, The Mass in E Flat Major," continued Lind. "Rheinberger was a German composer from the late romantic period, and wrote this beautiful a cappella piece of music for double choir."
The Concert Choir program also includes: In Remembrance by Eleanor Daley; My Lord, What a Moanin' by Adolphus Hailstork; Hark, I Hear the Harps Eternal by Alice Parker; Bless to Me, O God by Daniel E. Gawthrop; and Alleluia by Sven Lekberg.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information, contact Lind at (724) 946-7287 or e-mail lindra@westminster.edu.
