Posted on Tuesday, April 10, 2001

The Westminster College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers have scheduled a concert Sunday, April 22, at 3 p.m. in Wallace Memorial Chapel.

The Chamber Singers will sing a selection of songs by Gustav Holst, and conclude their portion of the program with some fun jazz pieces.

The Concert Choir will perform Bernstien's "Chichester Psalms," a magnificent work arranged for choir, organ, harp, and percussion. The instrumentalists include college organist Dr. Elizabeth Harrison, Julia Scott from Pittsburgh on the harp, and college percussion instructor Brett Dietz, along with members of Tempus Fugit and students from Westminster, will play percussion. Twelve-year-old Charles Shafer, son of Susan Shafer, artist in residence at Westminster College, will sing the boy soprano solo.

Under the direction of Dr. Robin A. Lind, the choir will also perform their spring concert at several local churches, including Glenshaw Presbyterian Church Monday, April 23 at 7:30 p.m., and the First Presbyterian Church in Apollo Sunday, April 29.

Lind is the director of choral activities and assistant professor of music at Westminster College. She earned her undergraduate degree from Albertsons College of Idaho, her master's from the University of Oregon, and her Ph.D. from the University of Utah.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Westminster College Department of Music at (724) 946-7270.
