Theatre Westminster presents "The Heiress" Wednesday-Saturday, May 2-5, at 7:30 p.m., in the Beeghly Theater.

This powerful drama, set in New York a century and a half ago, is a compelling character study of a shy and awkward Catherine Sloper, played by senior Kristy Bronder, and her emotional journey to find love in an unloving environment.

Standing in her way is a stern and contemptuous father, played by junior Brad Dell, and a suave and idle suitor, played by senior Matthew Nichols. Her romantic and often foolish aunt, played by junior Kristen Kress, becomes Catherine's only confidant. Mocked, misled, and abandoned, Catherine eventually turns the tables on all of them.

Other roles in the production include: Maria, played by first-year student Diana Rodenhausen; Elizabeth Almond, played by senior Rachel Helgeson; Marian Almond, played by first-year student Sara Kimbell; Mrs. Montgomery, played by sophomore Katrina Kayden; Coachman, played by senior John Scott; and Arthur Townsend, played by junior William Weniger. New Wilmington resident Eileen Hendrickson, visiting instructor of theater at Westminster College, directs the play.

Tickets are available by calling the Beeghly Theater Box Office April 30-May 4 from noon-2 p.m. at (724) 946-7241.
