Westminster College will celebrate the academic accomplishments of its students during an expanded Spring Honors Convocation Saturday, April 28, at 11 a.m. in Orr Auditorium.
In comparison to previous years when only the students on the dean's list, Pi Sigma Pi inductees, and scholarship winners were included, this year's ceremony also includes recognition of the scholar athletes and academic honor societies, such as Mortar Board, Omicron Delta Kappa and Lambda Sigma, as well as individual Departmental Honors.
The program includes a prelude by the Westminster College Brass Quintet, a processional by senior music education major Preston Dibble, and the invocation by Keturah Laney, assistant chaplain of Westminster College.
After a welcome by Westminster College President R. Thomas Williamson, Dr. John Deegan Jr., vice president for academic affairs and dean of the college, will make the presentation of student academic honors.
The program will continue with recognition of the prizes and awards by departments and non-departmental scholarships and awards, and will be followed by recognition of the members of the academic honor societies, scholar athletes, and national fraternity, sorority academic awards, and The McQuiston College Service Awards.
A reception sponsored by the Westminster College Parents' Association will follow in Orr Lobby.
