Pre-publication orders for the "History of New Wilmington" book will save five dollars off the publication price of $29.95.

"When the book becomes available for sale, the price is $29.95," said Al Sternbergh, a member of the book committee.  "People may want to take advantage of the $24.95 pre-publication price."

This 12-chapter book, explores the life and times of a town since 1797.  The history includes: Native Americans, town government and services, civic and community organizations, churches, the Amish, The Tavern, leisure time and sports activities, and Westminster College.  It also includes a family section with over 100 photographs of historic homes, people and more.

"There are some facts that you might not know about New Wilmington," said Sternbergh.  "How did the town get its name?  There is some evidence related to the early settlement of our town that it was named after Wilmington, Delaware.  New Wilmington is the only town in the United States with this name."

"Most of the earliest settlers came here to claim their Donation Land awarded them by the colonial government for services rendered during the Revolutionary War," continued Sternbergh.  "We are certain that those who purchase this first complete history of New Wilmington will find it a good 'reading companion' and bring forth a treasure trove of lasting memories."
