Westminster Women Place First, Men Fourth in 2011-12 PAC All-Sports Trophy Standings

WEXFORD, Pa. - Westminster College athletics placed in the top four for both of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) All-Sports Trophy standings for 2011-12. The nine Titan women's teams won the all-sports trophy with 72 points out of 10 schools, now winning it five of the last six years. The nine Titan men's teams placed fourth out of nine schools in the PAC with 52 points, only 0.5 points behind PAC rival Grove City (52.5).

The all-sports trophies are awarded annually to the school which performs the best across the board in league competition. First-place finishes are worth eight points with fewer points for subsequent place finishers until last place is awarded one point.

Westminster Celebrates 2011-12 Athletic Accomplishments at WESPY Awards
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Department of Athletics and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee hosted the Ninth Annual WESPY Awards (Westminster Exceptional Sports Performances of the Year) Thursday night at the Orr Auditorium. The WESPYs honored team MVPs for all 18 varsity sports teams, as well as several annual awards and recognition of top athletic achievements throughout the 2011-12 academic year.

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) today selected junior women's tennis player Alex Bailey (Murrysville, Pa. / Franklin Regional) as its SAAC Titan Athlete of the Week for the week of March 5-11.

Women's Tennis: WC Finish Season Undefeated
Hilton Head, S.C. - The Westminster College women's tennis team finished their 2011-12 season undefeated, 18-0, following three wins in Hilton Head Island, S.C. Westminster topped Trine 6-3, Catholic University, 5-4, and Juniata, 8-1.

PAC Honors 36 Westminster Student-Athletes
WEXFORD, Pa. - The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) on Jan. 25 recognized 36 Westminster College student-athletes who were named to the PAC Fall 2011 Academic Honor Roll. The PAC Academic Honor Roll honors student-athletes on fall varsity sports teams who have earned a grade-point average (GPA) of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale during their semester of competition.
