Track & Field: Bell, Dolsak Qualify for NCAA Championships

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Seniors Ryan Bell (New Wilmington, Pa. / Wilmington) and Emily Dolsak (McDonald, Ohio/McDonald), members of the Westminster College men's and women's track and field teams, have qualified for the 2012 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships that will be held May 24-26 at Fritz B. Burns Stadium in Claremont, Calif. at Claremont McKenna College.

The top 20 men and 22 women declared student-athletes in each event, based on their outdoor performances since Mar. 1, were accepted into the competition. The final list of qualifiers was released on Sunday. The top-8 places will earn All-American status.

Westminster Women Place First, Men Fourth in 2011-12 PAC All-Sports Trophy Standings
WEXFORD, Pa. - Westminster College athletics placed in the top four for both of the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) All-Sports Trophy standings for 2011-12. The nine Titan women's teams won the all-sports trophy with 72 points out of 10 schools, now winning it five of the last six years. The nine Titan men's teams placed fourth out of nine schools in the PAC with 52 points, only 0.5 points behind PAC rival Grove City (52.5).

Blocks of Titan Tradition; 400m Record-Holders Unite for Memorable Performance
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College 440-yard/400-meter record had resided in Joe Stewart's family for a century. Stewart, a 1963 Westminster graduate, held the record for 50 years and his grandfather Linus, 1905 graduate, held it for nearly another half century.

MEADVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College men's and women's track and field teams competed in the 6th Annual Gator Invitational on Friday. The event was hosted by Allegheny College.

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. - A few throwers of the Westminster College men's and women's track & field teams competed at the Jim Thorpe Open on Friday. The event was hosted by Penn State.

Westminster Celebrates 2011-12 Athletic Accomplishments at WESPY Awards
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Department of Athletics and the Student Athlete Advisory Committee hosted the Ninth Annual WESPY Awards (Westminster Exceptional Sports Performances of the Year) Thursday night at the Orr Auditorium. The WESPYs honored team MVPs for all 18 varsity sports teams, as well as several annual awards and recognition of top athletic achievements throughout the 2011-12 academic year.

Track & Field: Men and Women Win PAC Championships
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. - For the first time in school history, the Westminster College men's and women's track and field teams won the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) championship in the same year. This is the men's second straight championship, while the women's fourth overall. The event was hosted by Geneva College on Friday and Saturday.
