Baseball: Westminster 2009 Season Review

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College baseball team finished its ninth straight season with at least 15 wins in 2009 as the Titans posted a 15-25 overall record and placed sixth in the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) with a league record of 6-12. Westminster defeated five out of six PAC opponents at least once during the season, including champion Washington & Jefferson and finalist Thiel.

The Titans placed three players on all-PAC teams, including senior first baseman John Izzo (New Castle, Pa./Union) who earned first-team honors as well as a spot on the ABCA All-Mideast Region Third Team. Izzo batted a personal-best .415 (56-135) in 2009 and ranked fifth in the league with 56 hits, sixth in slugging percentage (.637) and total bases (86), and seventh in on-base percentage (.497) and home runs (6).
