Men's Basketball: Titans Fall, 101-65, to Hiram

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 101-65, to Hiram Monday night inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium.

Hiram (2-5) took its first double-digit lead of the game when Aaron Stefanov scored on a jumper with 13:33 remaining in the first half, giving the Terriers a 17-6 lead. The Terriers took their largest lead of the half, 52-26, when Riley Moore drilled a full-court-buzzer-beater in the first frame.

Down 70-42 with 11:47 left in regulation, Westminster (0-8) went on an 11-2 run which was capped off with a pair of free throws by senior Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union).

For the game, Hiram out-shot Westminster 44.3% (35-79) to 35.6% (21-59) and out-rebounded the Titans, 51-36.

Westminster had three players who scored in double-figures, led by Thomas with 15. Sophomore Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) and Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) followed with 11 points each. Freshman John Arcuri (Oakmont, PA / Saint Joseph) and Coty Gander (Jackson Center, PA / Lakeview) added eight and seven points, respectively. Wallander and Gander led the Titans on the glass with six rebounds each. Thomas pocketed a team-high two steals and tied Wallander with a team-high two blocks. Wallander also had a team-best three assists.

Stefanov led the Terriers with a game-high 25 points, while Moore grabbed down a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Titans will host PSU-Altoona on Saturday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m.
