Men's Basketball: Titans Fall, 84-71, to Pitt-Bradford

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's basketball team lost, 84-71, to Pitt-Bradford inside Buzz Ridl Gymnasium on Wednesday night. The Titans dropped to 0-3 for the season, while the Panthers improved to 2-1.

Pitt-Bradford was in the lead for the entire first half and led by as much as 17 points when Eric Matheson scored a three-pointer with 39 seconds remaining before halftime. The Panthers led, 43-28, at intermission.

The Panthers maintained their double-digit lead in the second half and had their largest lead when Tyler Fantaskey scored a three-point field goal, giving Pitt-Bradford a 70-50 lead with 8:14 left on the clock.

Titan sophomore Paul Carswell (Painesville, OH / Notre Dame Cathedral Latin) led Westminster with 18 points (5-for-16), including a game-high perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line. Freshman Jason Pilarski (Pittsburgh, PA / Brentwood) followed with 15 points. Senior Anthony Thomas (New Castle, PA / Union) and freshman Mike Getsy (Mars, PA / Mars) added nine points each. Sophomore Charlie Wallander (Pittsburgh, PA / Baldwin) had a team-high nine rebounds, while Pilarski led the Titans with four steals.

For the game, Pitt-Bradford out-shot Westminster 43.3% (29-67) to 36.8% (25-68) and out-rebounded the Titans 58-37.

Westminster will play at Youngstown State on Saturday at 11 a.m.
