Men's Soccer: Westminster Drops, 4-2, in Physical Match Versus PS-Behrend

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College men's soccer team, lost 4-2, in a hard-fought match against Penn. State-Behrend on Saturday in non-conference action. The Titans fell to 3-4 overall, while the Lions improved to 4-1-1.

Westminster was tied 2-2 with the Lions, who have been regionally ranked this season, after a goal off the diving foot of Titan sophomore Austin Ewers (New Wilmington, PA / Wilmington Area) with 50:42 on the clock.

In the first half, the Lions took an early 2-0 lead after scores in the 13th and 18th minute. The Titans cut into PS-Behrend's lead when senior David Osae (Bedford, TX / Lawrence D. Bell) scored of a deflection from the Lions' goalie from a Titan penalty kick.

After Ewers tied it, 2-2, the Lions pulled away with goals in the 60th and 69th minute, with the latter score coming off a penalty kick.

Titan senior goalie Joe Bonish (Newport News, VA / Woodside) got the loss in a complete game effort. Bonish gave up four goals and earned a season-high four saves.

Westminster will host La Roche on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. under the lights of Harold Burry Stadium.
