Baseball: Titans Dominate Grove City in 8-2 Win

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College baseball team won, 8-2, at home over Grove City on Wednesday. The Titans improved to 9-9 overall and 2-4 in the Presidents' Athletic Conference, while the Wolverines dropped to 1-6 overall and 0-1 in the conference.

Westminster took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning with two outs when senior Dom Neely (Prospect, PA / Slippery Rock) connected on a three-run home run for his first homer of his career. Junior Nick Reinthaler (Canfield, OH / Canfield) and sophomore John Jones (Ligonier, PA / Ligonier Valley) scored on the play. Also homering in the game was senior Ty Miller (Clinton, PA / Hopewell) in the third inning for his second long ball of the season.

The Titans scored two more runs in the second inning and three in the seventh. For the game, Westminster out-hit the Wolverines 10-5.

Titan senior pitcher Scott Hanicak (Ellwood City, PA / Laurel) earned the complete-game win and went to 3-2 on the season. Hanicak allowed two runs off five hits and struck out five batters while walking the same.

Westminster will host Saint Vincent tomorrow in a nine-inning game at 4 p.m.
