GREENVILLE, Pa. - The Westminster College volleyball team (20-6, 8-4 PAC) swept two Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) matches at the Thiel's Tri-Match on Saturday. The Titans won 3-0 (25-16, 25-16, 25-21) versus Waynesburg and topped Thiel, 3-1 (25-14, 25-12, 10-25, 25-19) in game two.
Against Waynesburg (6-16, 1-9 PAC), seniors Lexi Starheim (Hubbard, OH / Hubbard) and Rebecca Riemer (Pittsburgh, PA / Mount Lebanon) led the offense with a game-high seven kills each. Senior Megan Romocean (Ravenna, OH / Southeast) and sophomore Megan Prybyl (Mars, PA / North Catholic) added five kills each. Senior Katie Palkovic (Camp Hill, PA / Trinity) had a game-high 30 kills and 12 digs. Three other Titans had double-digit digs, led by senior Claire Ferrando (North Jackson, OH / Western Reserve) with 20. Junior Julie Powell (Meadville, PA / Meadville) followed with 19 digs, while senior Chrissy Volsko (Canfield, OH / Austintown Fitch) added 12. Prybyl also had a game-high four blocks.
In game two against Thiel (2-20, 2-7 PAC), Romocean led the offense with a game-high 13 kills. Palkovic had 19 assists and added 10 digs on defense. Ferrando led the defense with 26 digs, followed by Powell with 15. Titan junior Kassie Freyermuth (Allison Park, PA / North Allegheny) had a match-high nine blocks, while Starheim had seven.
Westminster will play in four-straight home matches starting with Washington & Jefferson on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
