Westminster College Student Alumni Association Hosts Leadership Dinner

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Westminster College Student Alumni Association (SAA) hosted the fifth annual Student Organization Leadership Dinner Feb. 11. The theme for this year's dinner was Leadership: The Westminster Way.

Presidents of all student organizations and a rising leader from each were invited to dinner and a program that included leadership advice from Westminster President Dr. Richard Dorman.

SAA President Emily Puruczky, a junior communication studies major, opened the evening with a welcome address. Puruczky is a daughter of Dale and Ann Puruczky of Chesterland, Ohio, and a graduate of West Geauga High School. She introduced President Dorman and keynote speaker Ralph A. Dise `74.

Dise, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, is a member of the Westminster College Alumni Council. He is founder and president of Dise & Company, a human resource advisory firm with expertise in executive recruiting, corporate outplacement and leadership coaching. He earned his undergraduate degree from Westminster, and an MBA from Bowling Green State University.

More than 90 people attended the dinner, including all current SAA members, campus organization presidents and Westminster College staff.  Thirty campus organizations were represented.

Student activities are an essential part of the college experience. Westminster clubs and organizations include governmental organizations, fraternities and sororities, music organizations, honor societies, and student-produced communications including The Holcad newspaper. Additionally, Westminster has special interest organizations that range from the accounting club, the American Red Cross, the equestrian team, and more.

SAA is a selective organization comprised of 47 students and prerequisites to membership include an interview and selection process. Member attributes include: loyalty to Westminster, strong communication skills, working well with students and alumni, and interest in building professional skills.
