Westminster College Chamber Singers and Concert Choir Plan Winter Tour

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College's Chamber Singers and Concert Choir left for a regional tour Jan. 4 and will continue to tour until Jan. 12, with performances at churches in Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. The tour includes performances at the National Presbyterian Church and the National Cathedral.

Under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind, associate professor and director of choral activities, the group of 40 students began the "Resound Today, Children Praise" tour at Greenwich Presbyterian Church (http://greenwichpres.org/), Nokesville, Va., with an afternoon performance Jan. 5.

Concerts are also scheduled for First and Franklin Presbyterian Church (http://www.firstfranklin.org/), Baltimore, Md., Monday evening, Jan. 6; Christ Memorial Presbyterian Church (http://www.cmpcusa.org/), Columbia, Md., Jan. 7; Meadows Presbyterian Church (http://www.meadowspc.org/), Charlottesville, Va., Jan. 8; and the National Presbyterian Church (http://nationalpres.org/) and National Cathedral (http://www.nationalcathedral.org/), Washington, D.C., Jan. 12.

Senior Elise Heater is the accompanist for the Chamber Singers and senior Jennifer Peet accompanies the Concert Choir.

Selections on the program include "Stars I Shall Find" by David Dickau, featuring Lauren Clauser as student conductor; and Westminster assistant professor Dr. Daniel Perttu's arrangement of "Resound Today Children Praise" from "A Deo Datus" with soloist Kathleen Bachtel and Heater playing the piano.

A variety of classical, traditional and contemporary works complete the program.

In addition to Lind, the Rev. James Mohr, Westminster chaplain, will travel with the group and offer an introduction at each concert. Mohr assisted in putting together the concert itinerary and arranged for housing and food for the students.

Alumna Alexandra Patterson `13 will also be traveling with the group as a chaperone. She earned a degree in music performance.
