Westminster College Associate Professor of Biology Presents Research in Las Vegas

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Dr. John Robertson, Westminster College associate professor of biology, presented at the 27th Annual Human Anatomy and Physiology Society Conference in May in Las Vegas.

The conference focused on innovative class and lab exercises, as well as on assessment of activities, courses, pedagogical approaches and programs associated with the teaching of human anatomy and physiology. Robertson's poster, "A Peer Education Project in an Anatomy and Physiology Course," detailed a class assignment integrated with student presentations at Westminster's Undergraduate Research and Arts Celebration.

He also presented a workshop titled "Top-Down Activities for Anatomy and Physiology." Robertson described the design, implementation and assessment of several custom exercises that he has used in his anatomy and physiology courses. He also discussed the students' performance on the activities, and their feedback and evaluation of the exercises. A number of workshop participants interested in adapting the assignments for use in their courses and programs requested that Robertson provide them with more information and associated materials.

Robertson, who has been with Westminster since 2000, earned an undergraduate degree from the University of Massachusetts, a master's from the University of Rhode Island, and Ph.D. from Arizona State University.
