Westminster College's Drinko Center to Host Cornhole Tournament and Benefit for Underprivileged Children

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College's Drinko Center for Experiential Learning is sponsoring a cornhole tournament to benefit the Royal Family Kids Camp (RFKC) of Lawrence County, Saturday, March 16, at 2 p.m. in the Witherspoon Rooms in the McKelvey Campus Center.

RFKC is a week-long camp for children from Lawrence County between the ages of 7-11 who have been abused, neglected or abandoned. During their week at the camp the children participated in fun-filled activities such as swimming, fishing, rock wall climbing and canoeing.

According to the Royal Family Kids' website 3.6 million cases of child abuse, neglect or abandonment are reported annually in America and one of these victims dies every six hours. "The primary purpose of Royal Family Kids' Camp is to give children a week of positive memories in a Christian environment."

Students and community members of any age are welcome to participate in the tournament. A gift basket raffle and refreshments will be provided. Teams will be placed in a division based on the age of participants. Mixed age teams are also welcome. Teams that place first through third will receive trophies.

The Drinko Center for Experiential Learning was created to enrich undergraduate education at Westminster through advancing world-class teaching as well as by participating in collaborations that address community and regional needs including strengthening K-12 education.  The Undergraduate Research Initiative provides funding for students to conduct research and to present their research at regional and national conferences.
