Posted on Wednesday, February 20, 2013

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College's Departments of Modern Languages and English, in conjunction with the Jake Erhardt International Film Series, will show the film Une Vie de chat (A Cat in Paris) Tuesday, Feb. 26, at 7 p.m. in the Mueller Theater of  the McKelvey Campus Center. The event is free to the public.

This animated film tells the story of a cat with, not nine, but two lives. During the day, kitty Dino lives with Zoe, a mute little girl whose mother works as a detective for the Parisian police. At night, Dino becomes the accomplice of Nico, a burglar who leaps from rooftop to rooftop. When Zoe decides to see what her beloved feline does after dark, she comes up against a gangster, and Dino and Nico join forces to save her.

The screening is a part of the Tournées Film Festival, a series of French and Francophone films that have been shown on consecutive Tuesdays since the end of January. The films are subtitled in English with each screening followed by a discussion.

The festival is supported by a grant from the French-American Cultural Exchange in partnership with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy, the French Ministry of Culture, the Florence Gould Foundation, the Grand Marnier Foundation, and Highbrow Entertainment. Westminster College is one of only 40 colleges and universities nationwide to receive a grant for the Spring Semester.
