Westminster College Choral Groups to Present Concerts Nov. 9 and 11

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - Westminster College choral groups will present fall concerts Friday, Nov. 9, in Orr Auditorium and Sunday, Nov. 11, in Wallace Memorial Chapel. Both concerts are free to the public.
The Women's Chorus and Men's Chorus will present their program Friday at 7:30 p.m. The choirs are under the direction of Dr. Robin Lind, associate professor of music and director of choral activities. Anthony Pezzelle is accompanist for the Women's Chorus; Daniel Goffus accompanies the Men's Chorus and Chamber Singers; and Jessica Kimbell accompanies the Concert Choir.
The Women's Chorus will perform: "Aleluia Brasileira" by Ralph Manuel; "Panis Angelicus" (O Bread of Life) by Cesar Franck, with a solo by Abigail Miles; Christopher T. Lewis' arrangement of "I Know Where I'm Going;" Jeffers' arrangement of "Johnny Has Gone for a Soldier;" J. David Moore's "Music in My Mother's House;" and Paul Caldwell's and Sean Ivory's arrangement of "Ain't No Grove Can Hold My Body Down."
Selections for the Men's Chorus include: "Sing Your Way Home" by Joseph M. Martin; Graham Preskett's arrangement of "Non Nobis Domine" by Patrick Boyle; Nina Gilbert's arrangement of "Wade in the Water," featuring Kyle Grabigel playing the tuba; Bradley Ellingboe's arrangement of "How Can I Keep from Singing," featuring Liesl Groubert playing the oboe; "Waitin; for the Dawn of Peace" by Ron Jeffers; David Poole's arrangement of "The Greenland Whale Fishery, featuring solos by Anthony D'Antonio, John Stumpff and Ryan Bezzarro; and "Manly Men" by Kurt Knecht.
The concert will conclude with the combined choruses performing "Song for the Unsung Hero" by Martin, featuring Cody Ortz playing the trumpet.
Sunday's concert at 3 p.m. will be presented by the Concert Choir and Chamber Singers under Lind's direction.
The Concert Choir will open the program with "I Will Lift Up Mine Eyes" by Nicholas McKaig; "Sei, Lieber Tag, Willkommen" by Johann Michael Bach; "Abendlied" by Josef Gabriel Rheinberger; "Sure on this Shining Night" by Morten Lauridsen; and "The Music of Living" by Dan Forrest.
The Chamber Singers will present: "O Lux Beatissima" by Howard Helvey; Michael Elgin's arrangement of " In Judah's Land;" E.J. Moeran's "The Sailor and Young Nancy;" and Joseph M. Martin's arrangement of "A Stephen Foster Tribute," featuring a solo by Gregory McClelland.
The Concert Choir will close the concert with Gwyneth Walker's arrangement of "Walk on up to Heaven," featuring Stumpff playing the clarinet; Forrest's arrangement of "The Nightingale" and "The Girl I Left Behind Me," featuring Kimbell playing the violin, Goffus playing the piano, and Pezzelle playing the piano. Jennifer Peet and McClelland will perform solos during Moses Hogan's arrangement of "This Little Light of Mine." The final song will be Andre J. Thomas' arrangement of "My Good Lord's Done Been Here."
