Thirty-eight Westminster College psychology majors will present their senior studies research Friday, Dec. 16, from 5-8:40 p.m. in the Hoyt Science Resources Center.  The presentations are free and open to the public.

The presentations will be moderated by sophomore and junior psychology majors Leah Hunter, Jenna Rimko, Quinn Romonovich, and Lyndsey Vogler.

Faculty advisers for the projects are: Dr. Kirk Lunnen, associate professor; Dr. Robin McGovern, assistant professor; Dr. Jamie McMinn, associate professor; Dr. Mandy Medvin, professor and chair of the department; Dr. Sherri Pataki, assistant professor; Dr. Sandra Webster, professor; and Dr. Alan Gittis, professor emeritus.

At Westminster, the final component of liberal studies is a senior study, or capstone, course.  The capstone is a four-semester-hour (minimum) course within the major designed to provide an opportunity for students to evaluate and assess the strengths and limitations of their major field.

The capstone experience permits opportunity for structured reflection on the value of education in and beyond the major and provides an opportunity to strengthen communication and problem-solving skills.
